The Board of Fire Engineers is currently composed of five members. They are appointed annually on May 1 by the Pepperell Board of Selectmen from candidates nominated by the Fire Department membership and the public at large.
The Board of Fire Engineers oversees the administrative operation of the Fire Department, including the selection of the Fire Chief and Deputy Chiefs. Traditionally these positions are held by Fire Engineers themselves.
The board members are usually senior firefighters who have been officers in one of the Fire Companies. Meeting Minutes
