  1. Celebrating Our Rivers! Annual Rivers Day with Congresswoman Tsongas

    September 23, 2017, 2:00 PM

September 23, 2017 2:00 PM at the Bill Ashe Visitor Facility, 80 Hospital Road, Devens All are invited to come out and celebrate our beautiful local rivers during Congresswoman Niki Tsongas’ annual Rivers Day visit to the Nashua River watershed on Saturday, September 23rd. Once a year, Congresswoman Tsongas visits the rivers in her district for the purpose of drawing attention to the value of our rivers in our communities, as a non-partisan effort. Our rivers provided water, food, and transportation to early civilizations, then power for our mills as industry grew, and today, they offer recreational opportunities and natural beauty throughout our region. The Nashua River, once one of the ten most polluted rivers in the country, was restored through the efforts of the Nashua River Watershed Association and many partners. Today, segments of the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers are under consideration for federal designation as Wild and Scenic Rivers.
