Nashoba Conservation Trust's The Day Land Lawrence St. This Nashoba Conservation Trust parcel off Lawrence St. contains one of the loveliest sections of the Jeff Smith Trail (blue dots). From the above-pictured sign and steel fence behind it, the trail runs through the woods along a beaver pond, passing the site of the old Henry William Shattuck Mill (now a beaver dam), and heads north through the Conservation Commission's Bemis Road Conservation Area before connecting with the Beaver Brook Association land in Hollis, NH. The wildlife here includes beaver, fox, deer, coyote, mink, and many different birds. All together the trail from Lawrence St. through the Bemis Land to the state line is about 0.6 miles one way. Follow Park St. away from Main St (Rt. 113) about 1 mile. Bear left onto Oak Hill St and follow for 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Lawrence St. and follow for another 1.3 miles. Look for the wooden sign for the Nashoba Conservation Trust on the right. Park off the road near the sign. Recreational Uses: Hiking (easy to moderate) If you have any information to add to the description of this or any other recreation parcel in Pepperell, or Conservation website related questions or comments, please contact the Conservation Commission. |
