Annual Building Permit Inspections
Beginning March 1, 2015, and depending on snow conditions, Patriot Properties will begin their annual building permit inspections for the Assessor's Office.  These inspections are for adding any changes to a property (new construction, renovation, condition changes) onto the tax rolls for Fiscal Year 2016 which begins July 1, 2015. Changes will not be reflected on your tax bills until the Fiscal Year 2016 third quarter bill in January 2016.
 
The inspectors will have badges indicating that they work for Patriot Properties. The Police department will be informed of the inspections and will be given the inspector's vehicle registration information.

Cyclical Inspections
 The Department of Revenue requires the Assessor's to inspect all properties every 9 years. Each year a section of the town is inspected in order to complete the whole process in 9 years. Inspections will begin in the Spring of 2015 and more information will be posted here shortly.

 The Assessor’s Department is available to answer any questions Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office can be contacted at 978-433-0322 or by e-mail at assessors@town.pepperell.ma.us. Please note that the office is closed on Fridays but the information is still available online and at the library.
 
Motor Vehicle Excise Abatement 

In order to receive an abatement on your Motor Vehicle Excise Tax, certain paperwork is required by the Assessor's Office before the abatement can be processed. The paperwork needed depends on what you did with your vehicle. Abatement requests do not have to be made in person. It takes six to eight weeks to get a check back for your abatement. Abatements from one car cannot automatically be transferred to another bill. The check for the abatement amount will be directly mailed to you. 

No fees / interest can be abated. The abatement is based on the excise tax alone. You are still responsible for any fees and interest.

Meeting Schedule
The Board of Assessors typically meets monthly, but on an as needed basis with meeting dates to be announced and posted on the notices page, and on the bulletin board in Town Hall. Meetings are held in Assessor's Office in Town Hall unless otherwise posted.
