Business Certificates

All business certificates (commonly known as "doing business as" or "DBA" certificates) are filed with the Town Clerk. The DBA files allow consumers to identify and locate the proprietor of a business that goes by a name other than that  of the proprietor. Once filed, a certificate is valid for four years. The fee for filing is $60.00. 

If a business is registered in Massachusetts as a Corporation and uses the same name to do business as, then there is no need to file a DBA certificate in the town.  If you have any questions, please call our office at 978-433-0339.

To renew a business license, all owners named on the certificate must be present to sign the document.

To request a new business license, the following form must be approved by the building inspector for approval and then submitted to Town Clerk's office:
