NEWS FLASH!

ACCESSORY APARTMENT (ADU) SURVEY OPPORTUNITY

The Town of Pepperell Planning Department is looking for input from the public through a survey on Accessory Apartments (also known as Accessory Dwelling Units or ADUs).  We currently allow Accessory Apartments by Special Permit, but are exploring the possibility of revisions. An account is needed to complete the survey, but the survey itself is anonymous.  TAKE THE SURVEY HERE: ADU Survey.

The Planning Board is an elected board of five members with an appointed associate member. The Board follows procedures outlined in state statutes and local regulations and bylaws to govern the subdivision and development of property in the Town of Pepperell. The Board will maintain and from time to time update or amend the Protective Zoning Bylaws and Subdivision Regulations. Additionally, the Board will keep a current Master Plan, a basic planning tool that guides the future pattern of land use, provision of services, and community elements such as affordable housing, open space and recreation, and transportation.

The Subdivision Control Law was accepted by the town on September 1, 1957. The first zoning bylaw to establish dimensional controls for building lots was adopted in 1958. The current Master Plan was done in 2020. A Housing Production Plan to guide the community needs for affordable housing was updated in 2021.

The Planning Board typically meets twice a month at 6:00pm on Monday evenings at the Town Hall. Agendas and minutes are posted on this website.
